Duality
From Chaos to Clarity

I joined Duality as the sole Product Designer on a seven-person founding team, tasked with shaping a decentralized exchange that could compete with Uniswap v3-style liquidity pools inside the Cosmos ecosystem.

In eleven months, I transformed the early-stage chaos into a cohesive platform, turning Duality from a concept into a product that later attracted acquisition by Neutron.

In the merger, Duality integrated its DEX module into Neutron’s core infrastructure, and 2.5% of the NTRN token supply was allocated to the founding team, underscoring the strategic value of my product and design foundation.

As the sole designer on a 7-person team, I developed Duality’s design system. I streamlined its most complex liquidity flows, transforming a highly technical DeFi exchange into a clear, investor-ready product.

The Duality Edge

Duality set out to simplify liquidity providers’ management of concentrated pools. Early prototypes were data-dense and hard to navigate. My first goal was to make complex token economics feel visual and intuitive.

Working closely with engineers, I restructured the information hierarchy, prioritizing price range, liquidity depth, and yield forecasts. Users could read market health at a glance instead of parsing charts.

Laying the foundation

Before a single screen shipped, I built Duality’s visual and interaction language:

  • Complete brand identity and component system in Figma.

  • Flexible color palette supporting light and dark trade screens.

  • Accessible data tables and modular panels optimized for chart-heavy layouts.

This system became the backbone for every design and allowed engineering to move quickly as the team scaled.

Simplifying Complexity

As the product evolved, new staking, pooling, and swap mechanisms emerged weekly. My focus was on creating structure and clarity without slowing the team down.

I translated complex liquidity and yield mechanics into visual systems that scaled, from detailed pool analytics to high-level portfolio summaries. Every view prioritized what users needed to act: balances, range health, and performance trends.

To keep momentum, I built adaptive UI patterns that handled new states with minimal rework. These patterns later became reusable modules across the app, reducing design and engineering friction as the product matured.

My challenge was to bring order to that chaos without slowing the team down. Liquidity mechanics and yield strategies became intuitive visual systems that scaled effortlessly from detailed pool analytics to high-level portfolio summaries.

Each view surfaced what mattered most for action: balances, range health, and performance trends.

To keep pace, I designed adaptive UI patterns that flexed as the product evolved. Those same patterns later became reusable modules across the app, cutting friction for both design and engineering as Duality matured.

Designing Under Pressure

Leadership changes midway through the project required realignment across tech and product. I partnered with new leads to re-scope milestones and maintain design continuity through constant iteration.

Despite tight timelines, we shipped a stable MVP with production-ready visuals, documentation, and reusable patterns for the dev team to scale independently.

Despite tight timelines, we shipped a stable MVP with production-ready visuals, documentation, and reusable patterns for the dev team to scale independently.

Midway through, both the product manager and CEO left. Instead of stalling:

  • I partnered directly with technical leads to validate designs.

  • Researched concentrated liquidity pools myself to bridge knowledge gaps.

  • Balanced speed vs. clarity, keeping engineers unblocked while ensuring tester could actually navigate the exchange.

Reaching Clarity

Defined a complete design system that cut developer turnaround time by 40%.

  • Delivered a straightforward, trustworthy interface for complex DeFi mechanics.

  • Contributed to the product’s acquisition by Neutron and informed their next-gen liquidity tools.

Duality proved that strong design leadership can bring order to high-velocity environments and that even the most technical products can feel approachable, transparent, and human.
